Mr. Monte R. Haymon
Monte R. Haymon, retired President and CEO of Sappi North America has successfully run complex profit centers in the paper, packaging and plastics industries for over twenty five years. He has an excellent record of value-creation, growth and profitability across economic cycles.
Prior to joining Sappi in 1995, Haymon was President & CEO of Tenneco's packaging group for thirteen years, transforming Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) from a domestic paperboard company to an international packaging company. This was achieved through both organic growth and acquisitions. The strategic initiatives under Mr. Haymon's watch ultimately resulted in PCA being split into two NYSE listed companies, Pactiv and PCA.
Before assuming general management responsibility, Mr. Haymon held various positions in marketing, sales, and manufacturing. He has background in mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive international experience.
Mr. Haymon holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Tufts University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. He is a Trustee Emeritus of Tufts University and former Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Engineering School.
He is a former member of several public company boards including Agfa Gevaert (Belgium), Office Max, and Superior Essex (non ex-chairman). Haymon is currently an operating partner with Watermill Venture Partners, a private equity firm.
